Zone01 Oujda guide
What is Zone01 Oujda?
In short
Zone01 Oujda describes itself as a tuition-free coding centre and talent agency based on gamified peer learning: a project-based pedagogy on campus, with no traditional teachers or lectures.[1] No prior coding experience or degree is required.[1]
Where it is
The official site lists its address as the Campus du Savoir, Université Mohammed Ier d’Oujda, with the contact email contact@zone01oujda.ma.[1]
Who runs it
According to Moroccan press coverage of its opening, Zone01 Oujda is run by 01Talent Maroc, a subsidiary of the 01Talent International group, which opens “Zone01” collective-intelligence centres to identify, train and place software developers.[3] The centre opened with the support of the Ministry of Higher Education, Scientific Research and Innovation, the Oriental Region and Wilaya, Université Mohammed Ier, the Agence de Développement de l’Oriental (ADO), UCLG Africa (CGLU Afrique) and the Centre Régional d’Investissement de l’Oriental (CRIO).[3]
01Talent lists Oujda among its five Zone01 campuses, alongside Athens, Kisumu, Dakar and Rouen.[5]
The programme at a glance
- Selection: online cognitive games (about 90 minutes), a check-in event, then a four-week on-site Piscine.[2] See Selection & Piscine.
- Training: a 24-month, tuition-free, on-campus programme to become a full-stack developer, with a branch chosen for the last six months.[1]
- After training: the official site states that a pre-signed three-year job contract starts after the 24-month programme.[1]
The pedagogy’s roots
The official site traces the model to Nicolas Sadirac: Epitech (1999), then 42 (2013) in France, and today 01Edu.[1] It states that Zone01 Oujda was launched in Morocco in 2023.[1]
Stated mission
Zone01 Oujda states its mission as helping Morocco’s tech ecosystem by training 8,000 software engineers “of all backgrounds” within seven years.[1] (This is the organisation’s own goal, not an independent figure.)
Juniors Piscine
Press coverage reports that Zone01 Oujda ran a “Juniors Piscine”, a five-day immersion for 12- to 16-year-olds.[4]
